Illinois Football news: 2026 EDGE Kingston Shaw Commits to the Illini
Illinois football lands their second commitment in the class of 2026.
NEWS: Illinois football has landed the commitment of 2026 EDGE Kingston Shaw. Shaw is a 6 foot 4, 225 prospect from Apopka, Florida who committed to the Illini over offers from Mississippi State, Arkansas, Toledo, and Buffalo. Per 247sports, Shaw totaled 42 tackles, 11.0 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks as a junior. Illinois football is adding an impressive athlete with an impressive frame for a junior. Long term, the Illini will look to grow their EDGE rusher room especially with star OLB Gabe Jacas trending towards the NFL.
He is the second prospect in the class of 2026 to commit to the Illini joining Florida QB Michael Clayton II. After winning the Citrus Bowl in the state of Florida, look for the Illini to continue to build on its momentum on the recruiting trail.
Why Illinois Football?
Kingston Shaw kindly told Armchair Illini that he picked Illinois because the coaches “set the vision for what this program is going to be and it’s already coming to fruition.” Shaw added “The love the coaches and staff gave me from the start was unmatched. I feel like they can push me to be the greatest I could possibly be”
Like Illinois basketball, Illini football can now sell tangible results out on the recruiting trail. What started off as selling hope has certainly materialized into a whole lot of positive, tangible buzz. Lookout, Bret Bielema and his staff are going to be a force on the recruiting trail.
