Injury Updates On Pat Bryant, Tyler Strain, Torrie Cox Jr, and more.

After a tough loss against the top team in the country, Illinois football is aiming to get back on track. The game vs the Minnesota Gophers is another important one to continue the positive momentum. PJ Fleck’s team has played well as of late and the Illini will need to be at full strength. After a lot of nicks and bruises vs the Ducks, the Illini have a few players they need to monitor on the injury report.

“All the guys that left the game, unfortunately, a lot of them were in the DB position,” says Bielema. “Torrie Cox has already begun to pass his initial protocol, and he’s on track to be able to practice in some capacity tomorrow, but should be good to go by Wednesday or Thursday.”

Bielema then dropped some big news on the Illini star wide receiver Pat Bryant, who went down after a head/neck area injury. “Same thing with Pat Bryant,” stated the Illini coach in reference to being on Torrie Cox’s timeline of a middle-of-the-week return.

“Also in the DB room, Terrance Brooks and Kaleb Patterson, some soft tissue lower leg injuries, but I do think we’ll have those guys if not Tuesday, Wednesday for practice.”

Furthermore, Bielema stated, Joe Barna, again was an injury late in the game to the shoulder, but should, I think be ready to go by Saturday. Nothing long-term for him.”

Bielema concluded with an update on DB Tyler Strain, “Probably would be the one most in question for Saturday, but I think he’s very positive. I saw him bounce through the facility earlier today. We’ll know a lot more on Tuesday, Wednesday. Then when I talk with you guys on Thursday, should have a better perspective.”
