Illinois Football news: Top WR Kenyon Alston Commits to the Illini
The Illini land their fifth commitment in the class of 2026.

NEWS: Illinois football has landed the commitment of three-star wide receiver Kenyon Alston. Alston is a top wide receiver from Orlando, Florida who committed to Illinois over offers from Minnesota, Vanderbilt, Missouri, and more. Per an article by Steve Wiltfong of On3, Alston had 48 receptions into 970 yards and 14 touchdowns during his junior season. Alston is the fifth verbal commitment for the Illini. He is the second wide receiver in the class of 2026, joining in-state wide receiver Davon Grant.
Illinois football is accumulating quite a group for their class of 2026. After winning 10 games and winning the Cheez-it Citrus Bowl, momentum is at an all-time high for the Illini. Head coach Bret Bielema knows this and is hoping to make the class of 2026 his best yet.
Momentum builds
After a historically good season, the Illini have won power-five recruitments with a lot more frequency. They also have a lot more success stories to sell which certainly resonates with recruits. This past season, Pat Bryant, was a star of the team and will likely be the next Illini to be a selection in the NFL Draft. Wide receivers coach, Justin Stepp, also has some cache from receivers he has worked with in the past such as Carolina Panthers receiver, Xavier Legette.
