Bielema kicked off his weekly injury report with an update on LB Dylan Rosiek, who recently suffered a season-ending leg fracture. “Saw him this morning. Obviously fresh out of the surgery, but, everything was very very positive there,” stated Bielema. “So, excited for him to start that road to recovery, and see where it goes.” Prior to his injury, Rosiek was undoubtedly the leader of Illinois linebacker core, totaling 25 solo tackles, 1.5 sacks, and 2 forced fumbles. His game-winning sack vs Nebraska in Overtime will go down as one of the highlight moments of the 2024 season.
The Illini head coach further continued with an update on defensive back Tyler Strain, who has been battling a left ankle injury. “T-Strain, a guy that missed last week’s game, was really upbeat in his progress today. He’s done some running in water, and on land yesterday, and had minimal soreness today. So, we’ll get him into indy drills (individual) tomorrow. Expect to have him back in with us.”
Bielema concluded his report, “A couple of guys who missed, Joe Barna, and T-Brooks (Terrance Brooks), those guys really, Joe especially, Sunday night was full go, unrestricted, and had no setbacks. Was excited to get him (Barna) back out there. So, should be full throttle going into this week.”
