Illinois Football hosted a slew of impressive recruits to kick off their summer of 2024. This has become a habit for Bret Bielema and Illinois Football as they like to get kids on campus early and make a strong first impression as the summer begins. The Illini also like to host one or two of their current commits in the class of 2025 to help bridge the gap and to help recruit the kids they bring on campus. To no one’s surprise, Illinois Football finished off a successful weekend. They landed two commitments before the weekend even ended in Davion Chandler and Cameron Brooks

WR Davion Chandler

Davion Chandler is a three-star wide receiver from Indianapolis who holds offers from Indiana, Kansas, and Wisconsin. He is the second wide receiver commitment in the class of 2025 alongside Brayden Trimble. Coach Justin Stepp has made his presence on this staff known. Stepp coached some impressive names in the past and is bringing that same energy to the Illinois Football staff. Chandler was the first commitment from this weekend.

DL Cameron Brooks

Cameron Brooks was the most recent commitment. He chose to commit to Illinois Football over offers from Kansas, Cincinnati, and Kansas State. Defensive Line coach Terrance Jamison has started to win a lot more power-five battles and Brooks is a huge in-state commitment. Once Seth Coleman and Gabe Jacas graduate, the Illini are rather thin on the defensive line. However, Brooks is a strong addition to a room that includes Demetrius John and Angelo McCullom.
