#19 Illinois Fighting Illini Football (4-0) (1-0)
Illinois Football has made history with their 4-0 start. Through their first four games, Bret Bielema and his crew have played a solid, stable, and intelligent brand of football. As Bielema said in his post-game speech, each win makes the next game bigger. This team is hungry for more success and continues to play with an edge. However, the battle vs Penn State will be their toughest.
The Nittany Lions are a tough out at home, and with an evening “white-out” energized crowd, Illinois Football will need to start strong. I fully expect Penn State to try to bring pressure and rattle QB Luke Altmyer. Altmyer has had an outstanding start to the season with 10 touchdowns and zero interceptions.
#9 Penn State Nittany Lions (3-0) (0-0)
The Penn State Nittany Lions will face their toughest test of the year so far in Illinois Football. Penn State dominated West Virginia in their season opener. However, the Mountaineers are currently 2-2 and do not look overly impressive. Two weeks ago, Penn State struggled vs Bowling Green, however, was able to squeak out a win. Saturday night is a perfect opportunity for James Franklin and his squad to gain some confidence.
This will be an intriguing matchup between two junior QBs Luke Altmyer and Drew Allar. Allar is certainly starting to live up to his five-star ranking and has been impressive. Look for both defenses to bring immense pressure to both star quarterbacks’ faces
