Illinois Women’s Basketball: Shauna Green’s Dynamic Duo
Illinois Women’s Basketball’s Genesis Bryant and Katie Bostic are among the best duos in the Big Ten.
Head coach Shauna Green and Illinois Women’s Basketball look to build on last season’s success. The Illini are looking at back-to-back tournament appearances for the first in over twenty years. Green and her staff are confident they can make a run in the Big Ten and NCAA Tournament. If Illinois Women’s Basketball wants to contend in the Big Ten and make a deep run in the NCAA tournament, it comes down to how well its dynamic duo of Katie Bostic and Genesis Bryant play.
Bryant and Bostic are first and second in scoring this season. Bostic leads the team in rebounds, while Bryant leads the team in assists. What makes the duo so dangerous is the inside-outside factor. Bryant is a dangerous scorer from the perimeter who can get to the basket, while Bostic has a dangerous post-game with the ability to shoot the mid-range jump shot.
They aren’t alone, however. Green and her staff have done an outstanding job using the transfer portal to build the roster. Bryant and Bostic are both transfers, but they aren’t the only portal additions who are essential contributors to the team. Makira Cook followed Green from Dayton, and Camille Hobby has been a crucial bench player who came from North Carolina State.
Green’s duo is quite dangerous.
