Terrence Shannon Jr. recalled to Timberwolves again after strong G-league play
The former Illini dominated the G-league once again.

Per the Minnesota Timberwolves PR account on X, former Illini Terrence Shannon Jr. has been recalled from the G-league to the Minnesota Timberwolves. Once again, Shannon Jr. had a brief two-game stint with the Timberwolves G-league affiliate. This time, Terrence put up a career-high 47-point performance followed by a 33-point performance. In both games, Shannon Jr. displayed incredible efficiency and versatile scoring. Despite being recalled, it remains to be seen what kind of role Terrence Shannon Jr will have. After his initial brief G-league stint in which he averaged 33.0 points, Shannon Jr. continued his role towards the end of the bench.
Along with Shannon Jr., the Timberwolves also called up their second-round draft pick, Tristan Newton.
Is this time different?
The Minnesota Timberwolves just lost a game at the buzzer to the Memphis Grizzlies. They currently sit at 20-18 overall and sit at the 8th seed in the Western Conference. Despite what many would consider a tough start to the season, they are only 3 games away from the fourth seed. Given that, it is tough to see the Timberwolves start to incorporate Terrence Shannon Jr. into their rotation. Barring injuries, of course, they seem pretty set on playing Mike Conley Jr, Nickeil Alexander-Walker, and Donte DiVincenzo. Given that, I do not expect Shannon Jr.’s playing time to change much.
UPDATE: Per ESPN, Terrence Shannon Jr. was diagnosed with a right grade 2 midfoot sprain and will be out for 2-4 weeks
