BREAKING: Illinois Basketball Lands Former Top-60 Big Man

Illinois Basketball has made another transfer portal addition. This time, Illinois Basketball has landed Notre Dame forward, Carey Booth. Booth just played his freshman year at Notre Dame and will arrive in Champaign with three years of eligibility. Booth is a 6 foot 10 inch, stretch-forward that will slot right into the Coleman Hawkins/Quincy Guerrier role. Carey is the son of current Denver Nuggets GM, Calvin Booth. Carey is a former top-60 prospect coming out of high school and has a ton of upside.

With Jake Davis, Tre White, Kylan Boswell and Carey Booth, Illinois has reloaded its roster. Much like last year, Illinois Basketball brings in a lot from the portal. The difference here is that all four of these guys are rather young and still have quite a bit to prove at the high-major level. All four players have multiple years of eligibility left.

Player Comparison?

A comparison for Carey Booth that I have in mind is former Depaul Forward, Paul Reed. Both are long, wirey forwards who have a perimeter-oriented skillset. Reed and Booth are bouncy, athletes who fill that “stretch-four” skillset. Once Paul Reed was able to put his skill set on display, he flourished as a consistent double-double threat who protected the rim at a high level. Reed is now a key piece for the Philadelphia 76ers. Carey Booth has that same ceiling if he can figure his game out.
