Former Illini Kerby Joseph Snubbed from 2025 Pro Bowl
The former Illini is the third alternate for the free safety position
Former Illini safety, Kerby Joseph, surprisingly did not make the 2025 Pro Bowl roster. Despite leading the league in interceptions, with 9 on the season, Joseph was surprisingly left off the roster and was not even made the first alternate. In fact, he is only the second alternate. Joseph’s third year in the NFL has been a career year. With one game left on the season, he has amassed 77 total tackles, 9 interceptions, and 12 passes defended. Compared to the safety that did make the Pro Bowl, Green Bay Packer Xavier McKinney, Joseph has more interceptions and pass deflections.
It seems that Kerby Joseph was affected by the consensus voting for the Pro Bowl. The former Illini was the vote leader amongst fans at the free safety position. However, when integrating the votes of players and coaches, Joseph fell to number three in total votes. The third-year safety should have made the roster as fellow former Illini, Devon Witherspoon did.
Super Bowl Contenders?
Alas, Kerby Joseph is one of the most impactful defensive players on one of the best teams in the NFL, the Detroit Lions. Unfortunately, the Lions have been ridiculously snake-bitten by key injuries at virtually every single position. However, Joseph and the Lions continue to scrap and win Football games. Though being snubbed from the Pro Bowl stings, Kerby Joseph may be on his way to a deep playoff run. As he has always done, Joseph will continue to prove doubters wrong and electrify the field with his ball-hawking skills.
