Former Illini Isaiah Williams Continues Strong Preseason with Detroit Lions
The Former Illini had yet another productive preseason game.
Former Illini receiver, Isaiah Williams, had another strong outing in the NFL preseason. Williams is attempting to crack the Detroit Lions roster after going undrafted in this year’s NFL Draft and is making a strong case. In his first game, Isaiah Williams had four catches for 35 yards, while also successfully returning kicks. In his second game vs the Kansas City Chiefs, Williams had a productive 6 receptions for 71 yards. That 71 yards including a long reception that went for 38 yards.
Multi-positional potential
Isaiah also showed his versatility during the game as he had two punt returns for 21 yards. The former Illini receiver is one of the most elusive players in the open field and should hopefully find his way onto an NFL roster as a utility slot receiver or kick returner. He may lack straight-line speed and overall size, however, he is simply too elusive to be overlooked. Hopefully, the Detroit Lions pick up Isaiah Williams onto their roster so that the former Illini can continue to shine. Williams will have one more opportunity to shine for the Detroit Lions as they close out their preseason next week against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
