Illinois Basketball Lands Top 2025 Guard Jeremiah Fears
Illinois Basketball lands their big fish. On Monday, Top 2025 guard, Jeremiah Fears announced his verbal commitment to the University of Illinois Basketball program. Jeremiah Fears is a big-time addition. He is the 31st ranked prospect in the class of 2025 and will make a huge impact on the Illinois Basketball perimeter. Fears chose his hometown team over offers from Michigan, Providence, Kansas, and more. Though there have been rumors about Fears attempting to reclass into the Class of 2024, he will stay in the Class of 2025 for the time being.
Jeremiah is the younger brother of Michigan State point guard, Jeremy Fears Jr. Both Fears brothers are elite guards, however, Jeremiah posts a different style of game.

Buckets
The older Fears brother, Jeremy, projects as more of a floor general and true point guard. Meanwhile, Jeremiah is an explosive bucket-getter. He is best in that secondary ball-handler role much like Ayo Dosunmu was. As a result, he can create off the bounce and is a long and crafty shot creator. Think of a longer version of former Illinois Basketball guard, Jayden Epps. Fears is not that above the rim or lightning-fast guards. However, he has outstanding fundamentals and is shifty in space.
Impact?
As one of the best guards in the class, Fears would have an immediate impact on an Illinois squad that needs perimeter help. Dravyn Gibbs-Lawhorn and Sencire Harris project as the only upperclassmen that will be in the perimeter at this moment. With Morez Johnson Jr and Amani Hansberry actively holding the frontcourt down, Illinois will try to add the most talented perimeter prospects to complement that scary frontcourt.
