Illinois basketball commit Quentin Coleman

Quentin Coleman continues to shine on the national stage. The Illini signee participated in the 2026 Iverson Classic this weekend alongside some of the best prospects in the country. Players like Purdue signee Luke Ertel, Oregon’s Tajh Ariza, and USC’s Adonis Ratliff were all participating in the Iverson Classic. Quentin Coleman started his weekend off on Friday by winning the three-point shootout. Coleman showed an effortless, pure stroke to win the event comfortably.

He then followed that up by winning the MVP award in Saturday night’s game. The future Illini guard scored 31 points on 11 of 16 from the field and grabbed 12 rebounds. Quentin showed off his advanced ability to put the ball in the hole while also showing that he can do it all on the court. In clips of practice highlights on YouTube, Coleman flashed his supreme court vision and growing passing ability. Safe to say, Illinois basketball is getting a certified star in Quentin Coleman

Growing hype for Quentin Coleman

It is no secret that a lot of Illini fans are expecting Quentin Coleman to replace the production of Keaton Wagler. Though Coleman is a five-star prospect, it is definitely unfair to expect him to meet the bar set by Wagler’s historic freshman season. Coleman is still growing as a lead guard and decision maker, hence it is expected that he will have some ups and downs in his freshman year at Illinois. However, Brad Underwood and his staff have done an outstanding job at building a roster that complements Coleman very well. David Mirkovic, Andrej Stojakovic, and the Ivisic twins are all veterans comfortable leading the way on both ends.

Also, Providence transfer Stefan Vaaks is expected to carry a major load on the offensive side of the ball. This allows Quentin to come into college and grow into his role, instead of immediately being asked to replicate what Keaton Wagler brought.

All of that aside, Quentin Coleman is an elite bucket-getter who should be one of the best freshmen in the Big Ten.
